I’m fortunate to be in a position where I get to pick the best design for the particular exercise. This week I got to try one more Bluetooth earbuds shipped to me by BlitzWolf BW-BTS1. I will put them through my usual cycling, running and everyday routines to see if they are any good. It’s a tough competition out there at this price point, I’m curious how they would work.

40km on a bicycle later…
At first glance, the design is very similar to the pair of Aukeys I reviewed last month or so, upon closer inspection, BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 feature bigger earpieces (stick out a couple of millimetres more) and much stronger magnets. The control unit is smaller and the cable is slightly thinner. While the cable is ok, I can’t help but think that the controller feels a little cheap. We are speaking about sub £20 (Bangood.com – more expensive on Amazon stores) headphones so I’m not going to hold this against it.
Cycling is my passion, so it should come to you as no surprise, that this would be my first test. After few miles on the bike, it was clear to me that the extra length of BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 is not going to cause any wind resistance noise – something that I was worried about. I was comfortably reaching 30km/h without any noise discomfort.
I mention that the remote controller felt cheap, but a very distinct bulge for play and pause is very helpful. Especially, if you use gloves. The fit of the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 was also great. During the entire trip, I didn’t have to adjust the position of the earpieces.
Would they stick if I’m running?
Even during sprints, the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 stayed in place despite the slightly bigger weight. I’m confident you can take it for a trail run. The thinner cable is not going to bother you much, the same goes for the very light remote controller.
Rated for sweat and splash resistance, will endure even the harshest conditions. Just don’t go swimming!I had no issues with the connection, whether streaming from my phone or a smartwatch. Not something that all the tested headphones can be proud of.
But do they sound OK?
Headphones have one task – play the sounds decently. I found that BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 are indeed playing the music well. I had no desire to play about the EQ as the sound profile was what I would expect. A little bit of bass kick and decent enough trebles – it should keep you very happy.
Calls, however, these are a different story. At this point, I will assume that call handling is a complementary option on all sports headsets. It’s serviceable, but the quality of my voice over the microphone was tragic. You will be able to hold a conversation, but I don’t think the person on the other side will enjoy it.
And if I use it every day?
By design, sports headsets are not the best suited for that, but you can go far with BlitzWolf BW-BTS1. There is Google Assistant integration (I’m pleased to know that Google understands me over the poor mic). The battery lasts about 5-6h little bit less than advertised, but I listen to musing at the louder levels.
The BlitzWoif BW-BTS1 are fairly comfortable. I can wear it for 1-2h straight but your experience may vary. The biggest advantage of these headphones is the size. Bundled up together could fit your wallet.
Final say
At sub £20, go ahead. They sound better than the price would suggest, the size and battery life alone is worth considering. It’s my first experience with BlitzWolf brand, I’m curious what other designs they picked to put their label on. If you want something cheap and cheerful with a decent sound – and you don’t mind annoying cold callers with a robotic voice – go for it!
