The everything vacuum: SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo

All vacumm you'll ever need in one simple combo

With every smart vacuum review, I consistently advised one thing: get a small handheld vacuum to do your corners and skirting boards. With SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo (which I will refer to as SwitchBot K10 Combo because it’s a mouthful!), my advice no longer applies! This product comes with everything you need to keep your house spotless! The last time I was this excited about a vacuum cleaner, I was in my 20s and just got my 1st vacuum – I felt like a proper adult!

SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo

SwitchBot didn’t do it the lazy way. They could add a small handheld vacuum in a discount bundle and call it a day. Thankfully, the brand knows exactly what’s so annoying about vacuums and how to design an interesting product. The SwitchBot K10 Combo is a separate product.

At the heart of the combo, we have a SwitchBot K10+ Pro (review) vacuum with a modified charging/emptying station. This little smart vacuum is good enough to handle carpets and it comes with a mopping attachment if you need to clean hard floors. This wasn’t the only thing I found in the box. After figuring out all the attachments (it felt like assembling IKEA), I discovered that the charging station contains a dock for… you guessed it: the handheld vacuum.

Having a fixed place that charges the vacuum is already good enough, but SwitchBot went further and introduced a self-emptying mechanism for the handheld vacuum too! In theory, you’ll never have to empty your vacuums again.

To complete the combo, the vacuum comes with 4 attachments: carpets with a spinning brush, upholstery with a spinning brush, and wide and narrow attachments with retractable brushes. There is everything you’d need to handle dust in your house!

Not everything to my liking

I’m not going to deny the brilliance of this combo, but the SwitchBot K10 Combo isn’t perfect and there are things that slightly annoyed me. The biggest offender is the custom trash bag that collects dust from both vacuums. It’s not reusable and it’s proprietary. Add extra bags to your basket so you are stocked up.

There isn’t much we can do about the 2nd issue. The SwitchBot K10 Combo is tall. It’s one thing to have the SwitchBot K10+ Pro base jammed somewhere in the corner, out of sight, but with the SwitchBot K10 Combo and its handheld vacuum toweing over everything else, you’ll have to be creative about finding the space to hide it (while making it accessible for the vacuum).

Cleaning performance

It goes without saying that the SwitchBot K10 Combo is a very useful product. While the smart vacuum zips around the house, you can grab the handheld, clean the skirting boards, do the stairs and even explore the nasty fields of crumbs hidden underneath the sofa pillows.

Other creative uses I tested were: cleaning my car, vacuuming plaster after drilling and using narrow attachments to remove filament from V-slots of my 3D printers. I’m sure you could think of another 20 use cases for it.

SwitchBot K10+ Pro

I already covered the SwitchBot K10+ Pro in the past review, so there is no point in me repeating myself here. I would strongly recommend that you check it out. Before you move further, here is a single paragraph of everything you need to know:

The K10+ Pro is small and nimble. It can get into tiny places, and despite the size it does a very good job at cleaning carpets and hard floors. Thanks to the advanced sensors (compared to SwitchBot K10+review), it will do a good job of mapping everything and avoiding obstacles. It comes, however, with a mopping attachment for hard floors that has been added as an afterthought – and you should look elsewhere (SwitchBot S10review) if you fancy mopping your floors properly.

Handheld vacuum

I used it to do my carpets, clean the car and assist with some DIY jobs and I have to say that I’m impressed with the suction power and how well it cleans considering the size. In most scenarios, I used the boost speed to get the maximum suction out of the vacuum. The regular speed is appropriate for skirting boards, dust and other non-carpet related activities.

The weakest link is the battery life (especially if used in boost mode). It’s enough to power through 2-3 large rooms before the handle shuts off, but if you bought this vacuum to do your cleaning manually, you are doing the “smart vacuum” part wrong.

At max power, the SwitchBot K10 Combo is pretty good at picking stuff up from the carpet. In other modes, the results will depend on the type of the surface you vacuum. It worked well at cleaning up after my drill jobs, and I was able to clean my car pretty well. However, there is one thing I should mention. The vacuums are designed with carpet cleaning in mind; for other tasks, I found the handheld a little unwieldy. I found myself supporting the vacuum with both hands in most cases where short attachments were deployed.

That’s about the only complaint I have about the SwitchBot K10 Combo. Once parked in the dock, the emptying process starts keeping your vacuum always ready for action. That’s very cool and handy!

Final thoughts

If you moved out of your parents’ house, and you want to make your new place a little bit more homely, smarter and feel like a true adult, the SwitchBot K10 Combo is a really good start. As long as you can stomach the £799.99 sticker price! Don’t worry; SwitchBot often has good deals on bundles, so pay attention, and you’ll get it even cheaper. I only wish someone automated the vacuuming part of the handheld vacuum. C’mon, SwitchBot, you can do it! Let me know if you have questions in this Reddit thread.
