We’ve seen this before: SwitchBot K10+ PRO

Is it better than K10+?

I hate when companies slap “PRO” to the existing product name, change a thing or two and call it quits. As much as I love SwitchBot for various products, they are not immune to my internet rage. Some time ago, they sent me a SwitchBot K10+ smart vacuum cleaner – and while not flawless, it was pretty darn good. I have its twin brother here: SwitchBot K10+ PRO – which I’m going to refer to as SwitchBot K10 PRO – as maths signs are not SEO friendly and I bet my cute bottom, you will never type that “+” in the Google search either.

Is it PRO?

SwitchBot K10 PRO

Without both of the vacuums side by side and the intimate knowledge of the product specification for both, I hardly can tell which one is which. I own two SwitchBot K10+ and now one SwitchBot K10 PRO. They are all parked together, and while I can tell the emptying stations apart thanks to the grey backing of the parking bay, I have a sneaking suspicion that these little rascals are swapping stations at will.

K10+ vs PRO

Read my original review of SwitchBot K10+ as most of the things about that great little machine still apply. SwitchBot K10 PRO is the most powerful mini vacuum money can buy right now. Not once did I complain about the suction power of this miniature cleaner, but SwitchBot managed to increase the suction power by 20% to 3000Pa. Given the size of the vacuum – this is impressive.

After watching a superior carpet performance of SwitchBot S10 with a redesigned brush, I also found out that the PRO version got treated to the same rubber brush style. It’s not the only shared feature with S10. The mini uses the same LiDAR system and offers the same obstacle avoidance capability.

The new tech and advanced software will cost you a little more. Slated for £599 is a slight jump over the K10+ regular £399 price. If you shop smart, you can get these cheaper as currently K10+ PRO is listed at £499 and K10+ at £299 making it a real steal at this price!

Vacuuming is PRO

With improved suction power and rubber brush, SwitchBot K10 PRO brings truly pro performance to your carpets. It’s small, so it goes in places no bigger units can and it cleans just as well.

I was already impressed with how well K10+ handled my test carpet and SwitchBot K10 PRO brings S10 tech to the table (literally, as I run the test on my motorised Maidesite Desk). the vacuum handled the test carpet and the desk surface well. Both sugar and flower were vacuumed nicely from the carpet and the desk.

SwitchBot K10+ left just a tiny residue on the hard floor of the flower which would be incredibly hard to remove without mopping it.

Mopping still kinda sucks

SwitchBot K10 PRO commits the same sins as the SwitchBot K10+. The entire mopping solution (aka wet cloth) is the same as on the original model. If you want an actual PRO mopping experience, check out SwitchBot S10 – my go-to hard floor cleaner which I absolutely love.

Unless your floors are already vacuumed from dust and particles, you’ll be greatly disappointed with the mopping attachment. While using wet wipes to clean floors sounds like a stroke of brilliance – it takes human hands to clean stains off the floor. SwitchBot K10 PRO simply drags particles around as the wet patch completely covers the brush/suction compartment.

The only viable way of using it is to vacuum your floor first, then attach the mop, probably wait for the robot to re-charge and run it again. That’s no longer an automation, that’s a chore. With that said after my test clean, the PRO version left less mess than the K10+, perhaps they worked on the pathfinding a bit more to scoop the debris better.

Mopping isn’t PRO, ger SwitchBot S10 instead. It will make you forever happy!

Smarts

It will take a run or two before SwitchBot K10 PROn learns your environment. Since I run all of mine at once, it’s easy to see how well it handles obstacles, legs and whatever else you left on the floor.

SwitchBot K10 PRO is still eager to eat cables. I found it winched up once on the charging cable, so you might be careful with that. It’s a testament to how strong the brush is. If you don’t like mopping performance, you can always repurpose it as a winch. With the updated sensors, I found SwitchBot K10+ Pro to be better at avoiding obstacles instead of bumping blindly into them – in that regard, it acts close to SwitchBot S10.

Just like the other model, SwitchBot offers advanced mapping, single-room cleaning schedules and automation. Check the original review of the K10+ for a detailed overview.

Final thoughts

SwitchBot has a PRO problem. SwitchBot K10 PRO isn’t a bad vacuum, but considering the fact you can buy almost equally good SwitchBot K10+ for almost half the price. I struggle to understand why SwitchBot K10 PRO exists. Is it better at cleaning carpets? Yes, but that’s a jump from 9.2 to 9.7 – and both models suck at mopping. Let me know your thoughts about this model in this Reddit thread.
