Google Nexus 6P RMA – part 3 (last) the happy ending?

The nexus is back!

Previously on NotEnoughTECH:

The Google Nexus 6P is back from RMA

This device has 2 years Huawei warranty, which goes beyond what my store had to offer (one year). Here is my timeline of the events for Google Nexus 6P RMA:

  1. 2017-02-06 Contacted the Huawei email support in regards to the issue
  2. 2017-02-08 Received an RMA prepaid envelope from Huawei repair center
  3. 2017-02-18 Packed my Google Nexus 6P for RMA and posted it.
  4. 2017-02-24 Received the device back.

As you can see from the above timeline (excluding my delay in posting the phone to the repair center) the entire process has been completed in 6 days (including one weekend). The device came back yesterday.

The repair confirmation initially confused me a little bit. I would expect something like ‘battery replacement’ or anything in the same fashion. However, this is the letter that has been issued for me.

Google Nexus 6P RMA

I reached out to Huawei asking for the clarification.  This is their response:

REGARDING YOUR QUERY, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE SERVICE CENTER DOES NOT MAKE PARTIAL REPAIRS, IN CASE THERE WAS SOME ISSUE FOUND WITH THE CASE OF YOUR DEVICE IT MUST HAVE BEEN REPLACED AS THE SERVICE CENTER OFFERS A WARRANTY FOR THE ENTIRE DEVICE AFTER THE REPAIR PROCESS, SO ALL THE FAULTS FOUND MUST BE REPAIRED. IN CASE THERE ARE ANY ISSUES WITH YOUR DEVICE AFTER THE REPAIR, PLEASE LET US KNOW.Huawei

As this is a battery issue, it will take some time to test it. I really hope that device becomes reliable again. If this is the case, this will be the last post about the Google Nexus 6P RMA. Otherwise, expect a follow-up article and me complaining about it again. Overall I found the entire process easy and fast. The device is in the same condition as it was when sent off for the RMA. I’d like to hear your stories. Has anyone done RMA with Huawei before?

UPDATE: 22 Apr 2017

The phone seems to be working ok. Time will tell how long the new battery will last. It’s getting warmer in the UK so it will be harder to test the low-temperature performance.
